What's the comfort food you miss while traveling?

I'm sure everyone of us, the travelers, must have somehow come to a point where we are slightly "home-sick". My definition of homesick is no other than missing the food that am used to. 

I'm kind of person that would eat basically anything (oh yes, I have eaten cow's testicle please). So when am traveling, am open for any new food. But there are times when it's raining and you are inside your small cottage by the riverside, it's cold and you just feel that you need something warm gliding through your throat, that it when it hits me, I miss my home-comfort food. 

Since am a Malaysian, I have a few kind of food that kinda warms up my soul and give me the perk-up that I need. Some of these foods might be yucky to some people but here's a take on what I really miss when am on the road, traveling the world. 

1- Tempoyak Masak with Toasted Bread (Cooked fermented Durian with Toast)

I know to some people, Durian is yucky and whatmore fermented. But hear is me here, if Australian could do with their Marmite (I like it though!) and the French with the Blue Cheese, Tempoyak (Fermented Durian)  is something like that. Malaysian mostly eat it with rice but I have this habit of eating it with toast.  I don't know why but somehow that warm gooey-yellowish-savourish paste with crunchy toast just so delightful. 

2- Roti Telur Mata bubuh kicap dengan cili sauce (Bread with Sunny side up with soysauce and chili sauce)

Don't we all love eggs? I believe I started developing the liking for this bread with egg when I was in University, you know the time when financial wasn't really good. Over the years, I realize that something simple like this could just make your day a lot better. I have once ordered something like this when I was in Vang Vieng, Laos just because I felt like eating it. Thank God Laos' soy sauce and chili sauce were almost the same like what we have in Malaysia. 

3- A bowl of hand-cut fries with salt ( Yeah, American much! :P)

This maybe is highly influenced by my constant rendezvous of watching American soap opera from my teenage years till now. But can you blame a guy wanting some warm-crunchy potato goodness with some really good salt and tomato sauce (Yes, ketchup is the other name for it)?

I realized this when I was in Chiang Mai, Thailand , I was having a really bad craving for a really good fries that I literally said to my bunkmates, lets forget Thai food today (and that's coming from an Asian! haha). So after lurking around the big market in town, we found a good pub where my mates could drink some beer while I ordered my ultimate bowl of fries. Boyyy...that was the best fries ever; served pipping hot with side of Sea Salt and tomato sauce! I felt accomplished that night. :P

So, what's your comfort food that you miss the most while traveling or backpacking around the world? Some of the friends I made while being on the road said that they simple miss some simple food such as a really good pizza, gelato, fizzy water and many more.

Wendy's is now available in KLCC!

My very first introduction to Wendy’s was I went to Manila 3 years ago. From far, I could already spot the “lil Wendy’s” with her blue blouse and red background. Of coz back then, I couldn’t really savour Wendy’s delicious menus due to the Halal restriction but if I could remember clearly, I did ate something from the dessert menu, now what was that again? Erm…..

That said, I was surprised to see a Wendy’s out here in KL. Boyyy…. Weren’t I glad that I can finally savour Wendy’s burgers! Fast-forward, Wendy’s is now easily available in Klang Valley! What more a new outlet is now open in KLCC! Now you patrons in KLCC have another option to eat out be it during breakfast, lunch or dinner! :D 

I was there to witness as Wendy’s KLCC opened their door for the first time. After being traveling for sometimes, it was nice to finally get to sit down and really enjoy my food. Don’t be surprised, I ate two sets of burgers that day (in which one I took back one to the office)! LOL

So you diehard fans of Wendy’s may now make your way to KLCC as Wendy’s is finally here in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Locate them exactly opposite KFC in Concourse level, KLCC! :D

Pak Acob Satay, Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur!

Been awhile since the last time I shared my food adventure eh? 

So, few weeks ago I managed to find time to hang out with my beloved God sisters; Kak Hani, Kak putri and Kak Jue! Well, I was just wrapping up my shooting with Twitterjaya and Digi Telco when they called me out for a dinner. I couldn't say no coz I miss them so much! 

It was an easy decision to go to Pak Acob Satay in Pantai Dalam since Pak Acob is kak Puteri's father-in-law! And I have to tell you, the moment we walked to the stall, I could already smell the Satay. Sweet, smoky and savoury smell; just what Satay should smell like!

We ordered chicken and beef  to share and had few other dishes. 

The Satay had the right ratio of herbs and spices, with the just the right amount of smokiness. The meat was meaty and tender! Just look at the photo, doesn't it just make you wanna eat it now? ;)

Besides the satay, we had some western food and Laksa! Guess what, not enough with all those food, kak puteri decided to order Tom Yam and fried rice! 

Beef patty topped with homemade spicy sauce served alongside fries, coleslaw and baked beans! Might not be fine dining be hell yeah it was delicious! Finger-licking-good. 

And this is Kak Jue enjoying her Laksa! Fiery because the fish soup is made out of cili padi! 

We had such a good night and everyone went home satisfied!

SelangorLicious Eat Out : Mee Ketam Seksyen 7, Shah Alam!

Well, last sunday I was invited to attend Selangorlicious Eat Out! Okay 1st sekali, boleh lah tengok video kat bawah ni untuk process "pe-lapar-an" anda bermula! I bet you are gonna take your keys and drive yourselves to Mee Ketam, Seksyen 7, Shah Alam! 

We were taken to Mee Ketam KL! Restaurant ni sgt famous! Well, aku dah pernah pergi sebelum ni tapi didn't get to try every thing lah. So I was given the chance to order ANYTHING I would like to have! Haha...silap besar lah! memang aku order semua benda ni..hihi..kata Foodie sejati kan? ;) 

The food is not that expensive and money-well-spent!  

Makan bersama retis2 Malaysia hari ini YanaYassin, Pen Merah and Ibu! ;)

Kari Ketam with Rice! The piquant taste of the curry complements well with the fresh crab. Not only the crab was meaty, the bowl was filled with some fishcakes, meriah gila mangkuk tu!

Ni pulak is the Mee (Noodle) version. Same broth, same ingredients except this eaten with  the delicious yellow noodles. The broth covers the noodles perfectly! With fresh scallions, hard-boiled egg and tofus, sumpah out of the world!

And of coz the most subtle Lai Chee Kang I have ever had! I heard they have a secret ingredients. Psst: orang pompuan sure suka. Dalam ni ada collagen tau! Pergh ni bukan Lai Chee Kang biasa2! Memang keluar2 kedai muka semua muda balik! hihi

Well, as you can see in my video. Ini lah raja segala udang! Diterbangkan khas dari Kota Kinabalu, Sabah! Dengan kuah yang mantap, memang terbaik lah! I adore the chef who cooked this! *Applause*

Next Invasion; Laksa + Cendol!

Next we invaded a laksa + cendol stall nearby. terkejut beruk kau abg2 yang jual ni. Thank God cukup makanan to feed all of our hungry tummies! Yeah, we were still hungrieh when we attacked the laksa stall! Well, kata kan foodie aites? 

Fresh, Fresh and Fresh! That is all I can say about the Laksa! Rasa dia sangat2 lain and fresh! The broth was the highlight of our laksa! Cukup rasa, cukup ikan, cukup manis! :D

Seeeeeeee.... even Hannah Pearson enjoyed the food! Great knowing these people who loves to eat, travel and write! It was just amazing! :') *hands down*
