Malaysia Tourism Hunt 2012, Kuala Kubu Bharu to Fraser Hill.

So we began our race with a race from Putrajaya to Kuala Kubu Bharu. If you think we raced like The Amazing race, you are wrong coz we convoyed all the way..haha.. Well, it was to ensure safety though..Thank you to the dedicated policemen for escorting us! big smile

Thanks to Garmin, we didn't get lost though we decided to stop for our own toilet pitstop.   Well, the troop waited for us by the the roadside. Sorry guys! tongue sticking out

It seems that it is nearer to get to Bukit Fraser via Kuala Kubu Bharu. Well, we were half-way North whereas Pahang is going South, isn't it? confused

While I was busy being confused and trying to remember back what I have learned in Geography class, I accidentally shot this. Funny!

Now participants, whose bum is this? Please claim it! hihi rolling on the floor

Okay, the bum joke aside. tongue

We arrived safely at Kuala Kubu Bharu for our first hunt. The task was to find various landmarks according to the pointers given. It is a very small town with many buildings with colonial influences.

That's me and Lixiu ( I gave her a Malay name "Siti Nurhaliza) running around rather aimlessly. She is now known as Siti, all thanks to me...laughing

We completed the race, though almost hitting the final countdown..fuhh..

This is definitely some race! Tell me who serves their contestant Cendol after a race? One unique thing about Malaysia. You get Cendol instead of Ice-cream to cool yourself down.

The day didn't end here.

We were told that our destination for the day is Fraser Hill. In order to get to Fraser Hill, we had to use the Gap Road (Jalan Gap) that can only fit one car per time. Not to forget the road conditions.

I could only snap photo till here. I nearly puke in the car with the road conditions!sick

So, you have to wait if you want to know what happened next on Malaysian Tourism Hunt 2012! Till then, you know the drill peeps, Keep on traveling! big grin

Cuti - Cuti 1 Malaysia Bicycle Bike Ride, Raub, Pahang Part 2!

Wuhuu...we had to wake up early due to the Bicycle Ride launching was very early in the morning! But the atmosphere was so calm, so much oxygen! It was pretty nice morning. So we had our breakfast at the Hotel Jelai. I had Cute Nasi Lemak!

After that we were taken to the starting point of the 11KM bicycle ride at Taman Tasik Raub. That was my first time seeing a Dato Sri Ng Yen Yen the Minister that acts like civilian, she was on a bicycle! She took part in the 11KM ride on her own! *salute*

The ride took part all over Raub Town, we entered all the small villages. Dato Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen is very famous among Raub people! I could actually hear people cheering "Yen Yen!Yen Yen!" in many languages. She is indeed very close to the locals.

The villages in Raub comprises of Malay,Chinese and Indian villages. I could see a malay auntie selling Kuih at a Chinese Morning Market! Truly 1 Malaysia! Everyone seems very happy and healthy. I wonder what's the secret..*ermm*

When the ride ended, we were served various local food for breakfast. From Lontong, Ice-cream pop, to DURIAN! It was splendid 2nd breakfast for me.

Can you believe that a Minister sat down with us blogger to have Durian with us? She was literally opening the Durian for us and kept asking the officers to give our table more Durian. Glad that she was happy that I managed to get bloggers to go and do some coverage. :)

Who knows, ended up our table became the Press Conference table, while eating Durian!LOL.. We had so many media asking question while Dato Sri Ng Yen Yen and I savoured some Durian. It was so funny because she was so down to earth and friendly, I felt sitting besides someone I have known so many years.

It was a truly nice experience traveling to Raub, Pahang. My first time there and I fell in love with the small town. Can't wait for my next traveling! Till then...keep on traveling peeps! :D

Thank you Tourism Malaysia, Tourism Malaysia Pahang! :D

Cuti-Cuti 1 Malaysia Bicycle Ride Raub, Pahang Part 1.

So last weekend I was invited by Tourism Pahang to Raub, Pahang. The shuttles departed early in the morning from PWTC but I had to miss that as I have promised Digi. In which it turned out to be my lucky day! You can read it here.

Since I missed the bus, I had to take my own bus to Raub, Pahang. Honestly, I have never been to Raub, Pahang and have no idea how to get there. The only thing I know is that bus from KL- Raub can only be taken from Bas Station Jalan Pekeliling.

And there I was standing aimlessly. Kinda struck by the look of the bus station; I was expecting something more structured than literally "boxes" of ticket counters. Guess what, it turned out that every Saturday evening, bus ticket for Raub, Pahang route sells like "goreng pisang"!

Every single counter I went told me that they ran out of ticket to Raub. I have to either take the 2 hours 30 minutes bus or wait for 8pm bus! Mind you, I was there at 6pm. Tell you the truth, I almost gave up. But because I wanted to meet Dato' Sri Dr. Ng Yen Yen so badly, I gave in and waited.

While waiting, I took the chance to roam around and trying to get on the buses that were moving that time. Hoping that some of the passengers didn't turned up. I guess I was not the only one stuck there waiting; I met 2 lovely mothers with their 2 super cute children! I can't resist taking photos of them!

I had a really good talk with them about Raub and Pahang. Now I know that Raub is the city of Durian.  And Raub has a lot of rivers that they actually have to name them all and put signage all over Raub so that people would not be confused! Hearing the local people mentioning about Durian and rivers already done enough excitement to me!

After waiting for nearly 2 hours, I managed to secure a ticket on Mara Liner! Thanks to the lady who kept the ticket for me. I paid RM 9.60 for my ticket and off I was to Raub, Pahang!

In case you need to know, I took the 7pm bus heading to Sg. Koyan. It made a stop at Raub Old bus station. The journey took about 1 hour 3 minutes. I was lucky as I sat besides a local guy who happens to be studying Tourism at UNITEN! Cool!

We chit-chat throughout the journey about all things TRAVEL!  That must have been the best travel-ness bus ride ever! Thank you Tengku Zhafran for accompany me; Rayyan Haries the chatty traveler! haha...

When I arrived, the first thing the Tourism Pahang people took me to was to EAT!  The dinner was held at Rumah Rehat Raub. The spread was splendid! I had the chance to eat Ikan Patin Masak Asam! A local delicacy in Pahang! :D

Nothing was done at night as Raub is a pretty small and quiet town. I spent my night resting after a long long day from Kuala Lumpur to Raub, Pahang.

More updates in the next post!

Thank you Tourism Malaysia and Tourism Pahang! :D
